OSRS Optimal Quest Order

There are well over 150 quests in OSRS. Most of them are one-and-done content. A handful of them gate huge amounts of what you can do afterward — those are the ones worth prioritising.

The quests that gate the most

• Recipe for Disaster — ten sub-quests deep, but the payoff (Barrows gloves) is close to best-in-slot for every combat style simultaneously.
• Dragon Slayer II — has a genuinely high skill floor (75 Magic, 70 Smithing, and more), but it's the single quest standing between most accounts and Vorkath.
• Priest in Peril — short and cheap, but opens Barrows and the whole Morytania questline behind it.
• Regicide — gated behind Underground Pass, which is slow, but it's the only way into Zulrah.
• Monkey Madness II — unlocks Demonic Gorillas and several mid-to-late-game conveniences most players underrate.

Why order matters more than most guides admit

Doing quests roughly in "requirement order" — the cheap unlocks before the quests that need them — saves you from training a skill twice, once to meet an interim requirement and again later to actually hit the level you needed all along. Checking a quest's full requirement chain before starting it saves real hours over an account's lifetime.
